What's the best programing language to learn?

I know a fair good bit about computers and just recently my cousin showed me he recreated monopoly on his laptop as a text based version. I wanted to know what is the easiest programming language there is to start with and how I could make a game like he did. It was a very basic game you would put in as many people as you want then type done and you would start the game. You pressed enter to roll and you could buy properties trade go to jail and every thing that regular monopoly has I want to know what the best programming language is easiest to start with and if I would be able to make a game like his.
